Shenandoah Mountain Anglican Chapel
Welcome Home! Where Everyone is Family! Friendships are One Visit Away!
God has a purpose for everyone, he knew you a million years before you were even born. He chose your parents and gave you specific gifts and talents for reaching your full potential. But for some reason, He did not send along a instruction manual. God talks to each one of us, the problem is most of us don't understand the message or know His voice. That is why we are here!
Life Coaching is a profession that is profoundly different from consulting, mentoring, advice, therapy, or counseling. The coaching process addresses specific personal projects, business successes, general conditions, and transitions in a person’s life. It is a relationship that examines what is going on right now in your life. Its purpose is to discover what your obstacles or challenges might be, and to help you choose a course of action to make your life be what you want it to be.
We are here to help you discover your next step / direction / path, by helping you see the areas you need to change. We are not here to tell you what you must do, we are here to guide you and help you discover that direction on your own. No one knows what you are supposed to be doing, but God. I can certainly tell you, no one at Shenandoah Mountain Anglican Chapel is God!
If you ever had a coach in sports, it is just like that. You must be the one that makes the plays, you play the game. But the coach helps you get ready for the game and helps you improve on the skills you need to be successful in the game, then helps you keep focus during the game. Like playing for a team, when you commit to play, practices are not always easy, and the coach is not always going to pamper you. But in the end, you become the best you can be in that sport.
Life Coaching is really for everyone and we can help anyone. But we really focus on two areas:
One, is to help adults, trying to make transitions or whose life seems stalled. It’s hard to figure out what you want to do with your life or your professional career. It is even tougher for young adults, when you are working after high school things seem to be going nowhere or making that transition from college to the professional world and can't seem to get a job. They do not teach transitioning in High School or College. We are here to help you make those transitions, help you discover what needs to change and the direction you need to take. No, we are not going to do this in one day. Both Father Patrick and Father Richard have had successful business careers.
Two, is helping those with an
addiction. We specialize in Interventions! We are not
drug or alcohol councilors. We help those in the first phase of
deciding they have a problem, and it is now time to get help. It
is hard to figure out what is the right course of action or
programs to do. We have some great success stories! If you are
ready to get help, but need help getting over the hump. Give us
a call. We have two excellent staff members that can help, with
years of experience.
First and foremost, there is no such thing
as luck. luck is when preparation and opportunity meet. Are you
preparing for the opportunities?
Thomas Jefferson wrote “It is neither
wealth nor splendor, but tranquility and occupation, which gives
happiness”. This is one of my favorite quotes, because it really
summarizes the essence of what we are all looking for, happiness
and contentment. You first must be happy about yourself and
second your life.
Tranquility comes in many forms, but it all
boils down to two things. Are you happy with whom you are and
where you are in life? If the answer to either of these
questions is no, then it is time to do some soul searching. This
is not an easy task, and certainly will not be answered in ten
minutes. This process is never ending. As we grow and discover
more about ourselves, in terms of strengths and weakness. We
have to wake to a more satisfying life. To find fulfillment in
life, a personal and Christian evolution needs to take place, we
must have the ability and the want to change.
This applies to all aspects of our
individual growth. But for any change to happen, we must first
be willing to try. Finding out about our self is even a harder
task. As we are moving through life, we experience so many
different things, and constantly change the way we reacted to
those things. Many of these experiences are negative. So, we
constantly build up shields around our heart to protect
ourselves from pain. This puts up stumbling blocks in our way
for finding out our life's direction, our purpose. We don't take
action, because we are afraid of failing or being hurt. This
also blocks out God and the chance for positive experiences.
As you know the hardest part of any journey
is the beginning. Self-confidence is the hinge upon which turns
the gate of individual achievement. When your self-confidence
becomes unlimited, you will be able to realize more of your
potential then you could under any other circumstances. Doubt,
questioning self-worth, self-criticism comes from the evil ones.
God loves us unconditionally, he is the best Father ever,
because He never puts you down and will always be encouraging.
To move forward we must set goals to help
move us forward. As we reach the end of one set of goals. We sit
another set of goals, which are a little bit harder. As we
accomplish one goal, our self-confidence grows. Eventually, you
will reach a point were nothing seems impossible, because
nothing is impossible with Gods help. True self confidence does
not come from positive wishing, hoping, or thinking, but comes
from positive knowing, based on having proven to yourself over
and over again. That you have what it takes, to get from were
ever you are, to were ever you want to go. Your thoughts create
the level of self-confidence you have. Whenever doubt enters
into your thought, pray and ask God to help you by giving you
strength.
You must stand up and fight for yourself.
Many can help, even God, but you must be the one that wants a
different life. There is nothing in this world that has brought
you to where you are, then you. If you want to change your
future then it is up to you and no one else. It always seems
that we are running away from our problems. We think the answers
lie somewhere else, but they don’t. There are two quotes that
come to mind. First, if you can’t find the answers at home, then
you will not find them elsewhere. Second, the grass is not
always greener on the other side of the fence.
Everybody always wants somebody to help
them, give them the answers. No humanly person can help you, but
it is for you to discover with God’s help. The door is before
you. The question before us: Are you willing to open it. I will
tell you this, the answers you seek are not from anyone else or
anywhere else in the world. There is only one place that has the
answers, that is were ever you are.
I asked you, what to do want to do with
your life, but many will say: "I don’t know". We all have had a
dream of what we want to do, since we were little. This dream
probably has changed a little, the older we get, but it still
basically the same dream. You may not remember it. You may no
longer believe in it. But it still is in your heart. Life throws
many obstacles in our way. These are not obstacles, but
opportunities to help you toward your destiny. The dream giver
is ready to give you your dream.
